About Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve (This nerve transmits vision from your eye to your brain). It is usually but not always associated with high pressure in the eye. There are no symptoms in the common type of glaucoma, so an eye exam is required to make the diagnosis. If left untreated it can cause irreversible damage to the vision. Fortunately there are many treatment options that did not exist a generation ago. It is rare today for anyone to lose their vision from glaucoma if proper treatment is received- usually in the form of eyedrops or laser treatment. Surgery for glaucoma is also available. Our office does state of the art glaucoma diagnostic testing and treatment.
